This is the latest series we have designed, it offers the marimba artist a totally revolutionary concept of sound and attack. Protean, derives from the Greek god Proteus and relates to the ability to easily change and mutate. This series is the sound revolution and versatility in your hands.

Protean series has been designed by ELITE MALLETS in collaboration with the professor and Soloist Nuno Aroso. It is an evolution of the Japanese series, the multitone mallets we first created . This models are a very versatile tool to bring out every color of your playing. We wrap the heads with more tension wool, offering a clear and precise attack in the most extreme dynamic ranges, and providing simultaneously deep and fundamental tones on every register.
The difference between Protean and the Japanese series is the material used in the interior head. Protean offers a bit more attack and brightness then Japanese series, which compensate the little bit of the dark sound. The balance and weight between mallets is similar in all models of the series, so you can very easily to mix them with different hardness in your preference, to create a richer color and harmonic balance over the keyboard. Protean mallets are offering versatility to play on every repertoire, from the baroque arrangements to the extreme dynamic range works from the contemporary repertoire.
